Gloucester Marine Genomics Institute (GMGI) and OceanX have partnered together to advance cutting-edge ocean exploration, marine conservation, and scientific research.
Overview
The partnership will bring together the advanced genomic capabilities of GMGI with the sophisticated exploration, media and storytelling abilities of OceanX.
Gloucester Marine Genomics Institute (GMGI) scientists will advise and join OceanX on missions to advance their shared goals of exploring and preserving the deep ocean while simultaneously benefitting public awareness.
“We are thrilled for the opportunity to partner with OceanX, an organization that holds the same curiosity and passion for marine exploration and biological discovery,” said Chris Bolzan, Executive Director, Gloucester Marine Genomics Institute. “This partnership will be fueled by a shared interest in genomics, allowing our two teams to collaborate and align our complementary skill sets to harness the largely untapped power of the ocean to achieve ambitious goals. We look forward to conducting exciting new research together and sharing our discoveries with audiences broadly.”
“We are ecstatic to be pursuing a partnership with Gloucester Marine Genomics Institute, an organization dedicated to addressing the challenges facing our oceans, human health and the environment through groundbreaking scientific research,” said Vincent Pieribone, Vice Chairman, OceanX. “We have a shared motivation and interest in the ocean and look forward to merging the expertise of GMGI with our science, technology and media teams to produce much needed ocean science and storytelling.”
OceanX and GMGI’s collaboration will consist of several ocean research projects designed to benefit public awareness of the oceans. By educating the public on issues such as marine biodiversity, marine population data and human connection with the ocean, the partnership will foster engagement with and understanding of the world’s oceans.
