Global ocean exploration nonprofit, OceanX, and the U.S. Department of State signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to foster scientific collaboration in the Atlantic Ocean region.

This collaboration is a significant step forward for both organizations toward advancing oceanographic research that supports the goals of the Partnership for Atlantic Cooperation (Atlantic Partnership), a coalition of 42 countries committed to maintaining a healthy and sustainable Atlantic Ocean and developing a new generation of ocean scientists. It reflects a mutual interest in pursuing joint initiatives to increase awareness of the challenges facing the Atlantic Ocean and building scientific capacity that supports evidence-based ocean conservation decision-making.

"Our partnership with OceanX allows us to combine cutting-edge technology with diplomatic efforts to address the urgent challenges facing the Atlantic Ocean," said Ambassador Jessye Lapenn, U.S. Senior Coordinator for Atlantic Cooperation. "We are confident that together, we will create lasting scientific impacts and advance the Atlantic Partnership's mission of sustainability and stewardship."

"We are thrilled to partner with the U.S. Department of State in this endeavour," said Vincent Pieribone, Co-Chief Executive Officer of OceanX. "This MOU not only strengthens our mission of exploring and protecting the world’s oceans but also ensures that the next generation of oceanographers has access to the resources and collaborations needed to drive meaningful impact on ocean conservation."

This combined efforts, resources, and expertise mark the beginning of an exciting new chapter in global ocean exploration and diplomacy, as both parties commit to advancing marine research and public engagement across the Atlantic region.
