A thriving ocean economy starts with care, not extraction.
A healthy ocean is filled with possibilities for global nutrition, climate resilience, medical discovery, renewable energy, equitable economic opportunity and more. We're working toward a future where scientific understanding drives science-based policies and inspires tomorrow’s ocean leaders to build solutions that not only harness the ocean's bounty, but also bolster it—a future where ocean health fuels sustainable human progress.
OceanX's scientific research expands knowledge, filling critical data gaps and pointing the way toward solutions that prioritize ocean health and human progress. Our educational programs open doors for for a talented and diverse new wave of ocean advocates to help build the needed solutions.
Working with scientists from Konservasi Indonesia and BRIN in Indonesia, we documented critical species and habitat degradation in priorities fisheries. These findings are guiding local scientists and decision makers about more effective management approaches.
Working with local scientists and decision-makers, we discovered and mapped five mesophotic reefs, which play a vital role in supporting economically important fish species. We also mapped nearshore reefs that support abundant biodiversity and serve as nursery grounds for key species. This data will inform future research and management decisions.
