Anchoring OceanX’s presence at ADSW was the OceanX Education Portal, a mobile, 180-degree immersive experience making its UAE debut. Designed to transport audiences directly into real-world ocean expeditions, the OceanX Education Portal transforms complex scientific research into compelling, accessible narratives, placing visitors inside the discoveries themselves.

This Multimedia Learning program brings audiences through exclusive content from the OceanX UAE 2023  mission, conducted with G42 and the Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi, and alongside researchers from NYU Abu Dhabi. Behind-the-scenes footage offered a rare window into research taking place beneath some of the world’s most extreme marine conditions.

Visitors also engaged with Dive and Discover, an interactive, UAE-based multimedia experience that allowed participants to pilot a submersible through seven underwater journeys using an intuitive touchscreen interface.

The experience spotlighted major scientific breakthroughs emerging from NYUAD-led research, including the discovery of a previously unrecorded deep-water coral reef, evidence of fossilized mangrove systems, and the first recorded sighting of a deep-sea bramble shark in UAE waters. Together, these findings are reshaping our understanding of marine biodiversity, ecological resilience, and the region’s climate history.

The OceanX Education Portal will be in the UAE for all of 2026 thanks to the generous support of Tamkeen LLC, whose mission is to deliver projects that enrich the social, cultural and educational landscape of the UAE.
